Stay
The visa applicant can stay permanently in Australia.

With this sponsorship you can
- have your spouse or partner live, work and study in Australia indefinitely
You must
- be the same person who sponsored the applicant for their temporary partner visa
- continue to be married or in a de facto relationship with them
Your obligations
You must sponsor your partner and their family members included in their application.
As a sponsor, you must assist your partner and their family members included in their application:
- financially and
- with their accommodation.
Cost
AUD Nil.
How long sponsorship lasts
Your sponsorship ends 2 years after your partner and anyone included in their application is granted their temporary Partner visa.
This is the case even if your partner is granted their permanent Partner visa immediately after they are granted the temporary partner visa.

Continue to be the applicant's spouse or de facto partner
You must continue to be the spouse or de facto partner who sponsored the applicant for the temporary partner visa.
We must approve the sponsorship. This approval will be provided during the processing of the applicant’s temporary visa.
Step 1
Provide your documents
You do not need to submit another application for sponsorship. However, you will need to provide additional documents.
Attach to your ImmiAccount:
- the personal details page of your most recent passport (showing your signature), or your Australian driver's licence
- a completed Commonwealth statutory declaration form with information about any of the following:
- whether you and your partner have a mutual commitment with your spouse of de facto partner to the exclusion of all others
- whether your relationship is genuine and continuing
- whether you live together or don't live permanently apart
- when your relationship began and how long you have lived together for
- the financial commitments you and your partner share
- the nature of your household (including any joint responsibility for the care and support of children)
- the social aspects of your relationship
- the nature of your commitment to each other
- your plans for the future.
