Information that you need to know before traveling to Australia

Beginning on the 21st of February in 2022, all visa holders who have received all of the recommended vaccinations for foreign travel will be able to visit Australia without needing a travel exemption. Visa holders who choose not to get vaccinated will still be required to fall into one of the exemption categories or have their own individual travel exemption in order to visit Australia.

Beginning on April 6, 2022, all passport holders who are qualified to apply for an ETA will be able to do so through the use of the Australian Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) app. Please refer to our Detailed Step-by-step Guide for further information.

If you are unable to use the app, you can submit an application for another visa that meets your requirements through ImmiAccount, which is an online service.

eVisitors are available to those who hold a passport from a European country.

ETA applications can only be submitted at this moment through the official Australian ETA mobile app.

ETA Stay

When you have ETA for Australia, you can stay there for a maximum of 90 days.

1. You must apply for ETA from outside of Australia
2. You must have a valid passport

Cost of ETA

There is no fee for submitting an application for a visa (VAC). There is a possibility of an application service fee of $20 AUD.

Processing Time

In most cases, your ETA application process takes only a few days. But there is no guarantee of the total processing time.

What you can do with ETA?

When you have this Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) document, you can trave to Austrlia

• As a tourist
• You can enter Australia to meet friends or family
• You can use ETA for your business tours as well

On this visa, you can also travel for study purpose, but for study, a student visa is more appropriate as compared to an ETA document. Because on this visa you can stay in Australia for a maximum of 3 months, i.e for 90 days in total.

Note: You should apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) and complete the relevant health checks if you are seeking to:

• train at a childcare centre
• study to be a doctor, dentist, nurse, or paramedic
• enter health care or hospital environments

Cruise

If you plan to visit Australia on a cruise, you will require a visa.

The time you spend on a round-trip cruise is counted as time spent in Australia, and hence you are not considered to have left the country when you return. In the event that you take a round-trip cruise, your visa will not be extended.

Consult with your cruise line or travel agency to find out if your vacation is considered a round-trip cruise.

Business Visitor

Business visitors have the opportunity to:

• make basic inquiries about the business or the job market
• entering into or reviewing a commercial agreement can be done in several ways
• conduct formal government activities while on an official visit
• get involved with an event such as a trade show or seminar. You will not be compensated if you participate in this event

You're not allowed to: o

• provide your skills to an Australian company or organisation
• directly market products or services to the general public

Your ETA may be cancelled if you are working in Australia or expect to work there on one. It's possible you'll be kicked out of the country or denied entry.

If you want to work in Australia, you'll need to get a work visa.

How Long You Can Stay in Australia

As previously stated, this is only meant to be a temporary visa. It is valid for 12 months or the remaining time on your passport, whichever comes first.

Multiple entries are permitted with this visa. With this permit, you can leave and reenter Australia at any time throughout its validity. After each admission, you're allowed to stay in Australia for a total of three months.

If you're planning on staying in Australia for an extended amount of time or returning frequently, we may want to know why you're coming to Australia. You may lose your ETA if you are proven to be a fake visitor.

A different visa is required if you intend to stay for more than three months at a time.

If you already have a substantive visa in place, the visa begins on the date it is granted.

Stay Longer

Extending your time in Australia is not possible with this visa. You'll have to reapply for your visa.

Without another visa to stay, you will be considered an illegal non-citizen and subject to expulsion from the country.

Include Family

Your application will be rejected if you include any family members. You must fill out a separate application for each member of your family who will be mentioned on your passport.

Cost

Visa Application Fees are not included in the cost of obtaining a visa (VAC). An application service fee of AUD $20 is possible.

From Where to Apply?

When you apply for a visa, you must be outside of Australia at the time the visa is issued.

You must be in immigration clearance at the time of your visa application if you are applying from there.

Processing Time

Your ETA application will almost always have an immediate outcome.

If you have any of the following conditions, your application may take longer to review:

• It takes us time to validate your information if you don't fill it out correctly, so please include more information
• Having a criminal record in any country will necessitate more information from you

There is no information on when this visa will be processed.

Your Obligations

Health Insurance

Travel

Visa Label

Your visa will be linked to your passport via a digital link. A label on your passport will not be issued.

To get your ETA, you simply need to present your passport. As soon as you have a new passport and your current one expires or is replaced

• your ETA will cease
• you must apply for a new ETA

Other Visas

In order to enter Australia, you must have both an ETA and a valid visa at all times.

Special Permit or Maritime Crew Visa?

For those who are already in possession of a visa for Maritime Crew or Special Purpose Worker status and are also granted an Extension of Stay (ETA), they will be able to use both visas simultaneously.

Upon arrival, you will be issued both visas. The lengthier of the two visa durations allows you to remain in Australia.

When your stay surpasses three months, your ETA will be terminated; however, if you have another visa, you can continue for the remainder of that visa's stay.

Other Substantive Visas

If you have an ETA and a substantive visa, you will enter Australia on the substantive visa, not the ETA, if you have both. When the other visa expires, your ETA will take effect.

However, when you arrive in Australia, the three-month ETA stay period begins.

If you intend to stay in Australia for longer than the 3-month ETA stay duration, make sure your other substantive visa is valid for an additional three months.

Any additional passports you have must be disclosed in your ETA application, as well as information about them.

It's possible that your estimated arrival time will be revoked if we discover that you submitted inaccurate information while requesting it.

Have repaid the Australian Government's debts

Any debt you owe the Australian government or your family members (including those who do not apply for the visa with you) must have been paid in full or arranged to be paid in full.

Best interests of the child
